New DT Projects with Basic Grey's Fact & Fiction - Pages 2 Scrap DT

OMG Can I just say that I LOVED working with this kit that the lovely ladies from Pages 2 Scrap put together this month.

Basic Grey's Fact and Fiction is right up my alley - all simple clean lines and bright colours mixed with neutrals, I LOVE IT!  :)

Anyway, here's the layouts that I had heaps of fun creating this month - this collection has some great graphic patterns that contrast against each other but somehow work without clashing.

How cute are those little coat hanger tags? So many quirky bits and pieces to play with! And Pages 2 Scrap have a great selection of Basic Grey in store.  :)

For me, the best part of the Fact and Fiction collection is those circle stickers! So simple but I love the effect they have coupled together.

And the embroidered fabric brads. Aw, it's all great really! :)

I'm really happy with how this one below turned out - the brads, the circle stickers, the coat hangers - lovin' all the cute details. My little man started kindy this year and I'd only just taken these photos the morning before I scrapped them :)  If only I was that efficient and up to date with all the photos that I want to scrap!

And a close-up... circle stickers and fabric brads with some layered papers and a bit of washi and stitching underneath for texture.

For this layout, I had two sheets of this beautiful striped blue paper, so I misted one with a bit of cranberry glimmermist, then cut it roughly into strips, wove the strips together and roughly stitched all over the top to create a subtle pattern-on-pattern background. I have used a couple of neutral stickers from my kit and kept it modern but feminine.

I love this photo of Holly eating sand. Pretty sure I've scrapped it before actually but this time I've used Pix.lr to edit it and add some rainbow lights to it. It's an awesome free online photo editor, with lots more options than Instagram or PicMonkey which I've also used. Disclaimer: not moonlighting for Pixlr - just think it's rad.  ;)

Love how Basic Grey papers are such lovely quality to work with, with minimal buckling when you mist them.

Hope you enjoyed these little peeks showing some of the ways you can use this awesome collection. Time to pop in to Pages 2 Scrap to pick up more of these papers! Luv 'em!

123 March Challenge...

There's a few days left in March and a long weekend coming up... who's planning to enter some challenges this weekend, in between ODing on chocolate? Or avoiding all chocolate if you are on a health kick - I am going to be making Chocolate Covered Katie's healthy peanut butter cookies this weekend, they are NOM NOM (check out her recipes - raw food WIN).

Anyway, the 123 Challenge blog has kicked off again this month after a little hiatus and a change of owners. This is an awesome challenge concept for scrappers like me who aren't too good with rules :)  because there's usually lots of room for interpretation!

So head on over if you have time and check out the inspiration from the design team and the lovely peeps who have entered this month already. You can go straight to the mid-month DT reveal if you'd like to see the rest of this layout!

Slide!

Just came across the photo of this layout I did a few months ago and realised I hadn't blogged it yet :)

It took me ages to get the placement right on this one; I have fussy cut the photo which I don't usually do so it was more awkward than working with a square or rectangular photo.

Does this ever happen to you when you're trying to photograph a layout?!  :)

Materials used: I think the pp is Crate, white Mr Hueys, October Afternoon badge, lots of scraps as usual :)  washi tape, Basic Grey brads, Urban Lily polkadot card, owl tag from Brandywine

123 Challenge: Black + Year + Twine Circles!

Well you may have already heard on the grapevine (or from my previous post) that the 123 Challenge blog is back in business! With a new blog address and a new owner, 123 is shaping up to be an awesome challenge site.

Aaaaand... I'm on the DT! Woot! So here's my first layout for this month's challenge...

BLACK + YEAR + TWINE CIRCLES

I love this photo of Ty on his first day at school this year.... there was so many kids around but I managed to get a shot of him alone in between the crowds and I think it kind of conveys the big scary exciting world he was entering, and the trepidation he was feeling on the day.

A bit of vintage goodness going on on this page, some Jenni Bowlin school-themed black paper, wood bits from Sodalicious, and an old glassine envelope on which I've stamped a schoolkids image.

The red pp is from Little Yellow Bicycle's Head of the Class collection.

I really enjoyed this challenge; have you had time to give it a go yet? Head over to the 123 Challenge blog to see some more lovely DT inspiration!

Materials used: Paper from LYB, Jenni Bowlin, Crate, Kaisercraft, Echo Park; twine, vintage paper, Heidi Swapp and Crate Paper Storyteller stickers, glassine envelope, October Afternoon and Darkroom Door, washi tape, Sodalicious wood cuts.

White + Brown + Doodling: White With 1 March Challenge

This was such a fun one!

White With 1's challenge for this month was to create a layout with

WHITE + BROWN + DOODLING

How fun! There should be more doodling in the world, don't you think?  :)

I thought I'd scrap another photo of my dog - hiding in the bushes - and I've used a Kaisercraft wood leaf spray as the focal point and doodled a bit of a garden at the bottom of the page.

The little dog is an October Afternoon stamp, and the grass stamp is from Creatiate. The rest is my scribbles :)  Check out that dog bone button. Too cute!

More doodling from now on I say!

Why not free your own doodles (that sounds a bit off doesn't it) and let loose with this month's challenge - head over to White With 1 for more DT inspiration!  :)

Materials used: Bazzill carstock, papers from Echo Park Note to Self collection, Crate, and a few random scraps, Stamps from Creatiate and October Afternoon, Sugar Maple glimmermist, doggy bone button,  October Afternoon chipboard bluebird and alphas, Bella Blvd chipboard clouds.

Scrap Friends March Sketch challenge

I haven't had a go at Scrap Friends' sketch challenges before but needed some inspiration last night so I thought I'd try a sketch, which I never do! I find it really hard sticking to them. Or any kind of guidelines really.... Maybe I'm a bit too 'freestyle'!  :)

Anyway, here's my take:

It's pretty close to the sketch I guess...

Lots of lovely Charms Creations goodness going on...

Materials used: Crate 'Storyteller' paper, Charms Creations felt embellies, Heidi swap butterflies and buzzwords, Sodalicious wood letters, washi tape, Lemon Owl banners, twine, recycled envelope, Glitz, Crate and Echo Park scraps.
